Duke of Edinburgh Award – Cook at Home Course
Who is this course for?
Here at Smart Raspberry we are committed to teaching children of all ages about the importance of being able to cook for themselves and others. We offer hands on practical DofE cookery classes in a number of our locations but we realise that there are many students that cannot access our classes, so we thought it would be handy for us to put together this “Cook at Home” course.
It is ideal for any young person interested in learning to cook as a skill, whether it is just for fun or as part of the DofE award. It offers a home based opportunity to engage and be inspired in cooking nutritious food from scratch. This course is also suitable as a stand-alone course for students that would like to develop their cookery skills before leaving home or for young people that are home schooled.
How it works:
We email you the “Cook at Home” booklet which includes main courses, bread, baking and desserts (vegetarian option is available) using different skills and techniques to prepare from scratch. Food safety & good hygiene guidelines, general kitchen safety guidelines, equipment lists and helpful tips for each recipe.
There is a 3,6 or 12 month option:
- 3-month course includes 13 delicious recipes
- 6-month course includes 26 delicious recipes
- 12-month course includes 47 recipes plus a food hygiene certification and planning and hosting a serving event such as a dinner party, afternoon tea party or similar.
What support do you offer?
We will be available to support students by email with any questions they may have during the course. Students will be required to email us feedback and photos for verification. On successful completion we will issue a certificate and complete the DofE assessors report online.
